PrefaceThis is the JGroups manual(指南). It provides information about:这个是JGroups指南，主要包括以下几个方面：Installation and configuration安装和配置Using JGroups (the API)JGroups API使用及介绍Configuration of the JGroups protocols配置JGroups协议The focus is on how to?use?JGroups, not on how JGroups is implemented(实现).这里主要是使用JGroups，而不是说明JGroups实现框架。Here are a couple(结合) of points I want to abide by throughout this book:这里有两个点我想遵守在本书中:I like brevity(简洁). I will strive to describe concepts as clearly as possible (for a non-native English speaker) and will refrain from saying more than I have to to make a point.我喜欢稳定简洁，并且英文表达可能不够完善，所以不要严格的检查语法问题。I like simplicity(简易). Keep It Simple(简易) and Stupid(傻瓜). This is one of the biggest goals(目标) I have both in writing this manual and in writing JGroups. It is easy to explain(说明) simple concepts(概念) in complex(复杂的) terms(关系), but it is hard to explain a complex system in simple terms. Ill try to do the latter.我希望简易，期望本稳定简单和傻瓜化的介绍使用JGroups，这个也是我的目标。我更希望通过简单说明可以明确表达出复杂的关系。我也尝试这样努力。So, how did it all start?I spent 1998-1999 at the Computer Science Department at Cornell University as a post-doc(博士后), in Ken Birmans group. Ken is credited(相信) with inventing(创造) the group communication paradigm(范例), especially(特别) the Virtual Synchrony model. At the time they were working on their third generation group communication prototype(原型), called Ensemble. Ensemble followed Horus (written in C by Robbert VanRenesse), which followed ISIS (written by Ken Birman, also in C). Ensemble was written in OCaml, developed at INRIA, and is a functional language and related to ML. I never liked the OCaml language, which in my opinion has a hideous syntax. Therefore I never got warm with Ensemble either.However, Ensemble had a Java interface (implemented by a student in a semester project) which allowed me to program in Java and use Ensemble underneath.
