In this example if we look at the injection on the left we are disappointed in the performance of the column. It’s not bad, but it is not good. What stood out most to us was the low plate counts on all the peaks, though there was more peak tailing than we expected on each peak. We knew that this column should have given more plates. We then had to figure out what the problem was. Since it was a new column and we had no reason to expect column failure, we tried it on another HPLC system and got much higher plates. So we tried to determine which component of our system was not working p
