安全、可靠和廉价的能源供应是经济稳定和发展的基础。能源安全 Safe, reliable and cheap energy supply is the foundation of economic stability and development. Energy security, the threat of climate change, and growing energy demand in developing countries have become major challenges facing global energy policymakers. This book will discuss the important role that energy technology can play in addressing these challenges. To meet these challenges, people should make better use of existing technology and develop new technologies. The price of fossil energy has fluctuated considerably in recent years. The price of fossil energy will remain high for a long time due to growing energy demand in developing countries and concerns about the safety of their own oil and gas supplies around the world. Reducing dependence on fossil fuels has become an important energy policy in many countries in the world. The urgency of reducing greenhouse gas emissions has further increased global concerns about energy security. About 84% of the worlds CO2 emissions are related to energy, of which about 65% of greenhouse gas emissions come directly from energy supply and energy consumption. The International Energy Agency (IEA) released its World Energy Outlook 2009 (IEA, 2009a) in the forecast, in the absence of the new policy, by 2030 the global fossil fuel demand will increase by 37% in 2007 on the basis of CO2, and the emissions associated with energy will increase by 40%. Rising energy demand and CO2 emissions in the energy sector will have a major negative impact on global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to avoid catastrophic climate change. According to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on climate change (IPCC) conclusion, as long the average global temperature increase at 2.0~2.4 DEG, global emissions reduction must be CO2 50%~85% in 2000 based on (IPCC, 2007).
