Abstract: After detailed eans of field geological survey, petrologic study and LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb chro-
nology ethod about Xiao iao For ation, the age of the eta orphic base ent for ed in Pre-Ca brian in
Kekesha area ofXiangrideTown in the eastern section of theEastKunlun orogenicbelt is discussed. The results
show thatXiao iaoFor ation is ainly a suiteofquartz-consisted eta orphic rocks, which can be categorized
into 4 classes, such as rock asse blages of biotite quartz schist-quartzite, gneiss-schist, hornblende schist-
biotite quartz schist and quartzite- arble. These characteristics reveal that the original rock asse blage of the
rocks ay be a suiteofvolcano-sedi entary for ation, which belongs to sedi entary syste fro shallow sea to
continental argin in environ entand low-a phibolite facies of iddlepressure in eta orphic condition. Fur-
ther ore, the zircon U-Pb chronology indicates that thereweregeotectonic-ther alevents in 1, 600
