A bstrac t: Based on t em easured data of low and ig tides, t e cubic spline interpolation met od isused to intrepolate t e sequence of
ourly punctual tides, t en t e sequence of punctual tides is used to carry out t e tidal arm on ic analysis so as to obtain t e arm onic
constan ts of every tide, t en t e astronom ical tide is calculated accord ing to t e obtained armonic constants. Tak ing t e data of ig and
low tides in Yanw ei arbour of Jiangsu Province for example, t e calculation resu lts prove t at t e met od as t e advantages of ig ac
curacy, rapid speed, and being smi ple and practical.
