The results show that the part iculat es exert significant eff ect on the biodegradation processes of petroleum cont amina nts, and the influence differs from biodegradation st age to st age. The influence mechanism includs several aspects.First ,the particulat es have ef fect on the growth of petroleumdegrading bact eria, and differences exist between the growth in solid and liquid phases of the wat ers. Second, particulat es will lead to the distribut ion of petroleum contaminants between solid and liquid phase. The degrading kinetics of petroleum contami nants in liquid phase is diff erent from that in solid phase.The biodegradation in liquid phase can be fittedwith oneorder kinetics while the bio degradat ion in solid phase can be fitted with 34order kinetics.
