Energetic Materials Research Centre ，Nanyang Technological Uniuersity ，50 Nanyang Auenue Block N1-B4a-02 ，Singap ore 639 798 ） Abstract ：A new synthetic methodoiogy has been deveioped for the synthesis of poiy BAMO and poiy BAMO-co-THF with controiied moiecuiar weight and narrow moiecuiar weight distribution. The synthesis of BCMO，the precursor of the BAMO monomer was accompiished using the reaction of Viismeir reagent with pentaerythritoi. The BAMO monomer couid be synthesized with an over aii yieid of 60% and poiymerized using BF ·Et O as the initiator and 1，4-butane dioi as the 3 2 co-initiator. Computationai evaiuation of the energy reieasing properties of the poiy BAMO derivatives was performed using Gaussian aigorithm. The theoreticaiiy caicuiated vaiues agreed very weii with the experimentaiiy determined ones.
