College ofAgronomy, Hunan AgriculturalU niversity, Changsha 410128, China) Abstract: Ziquejie Terrace w as approved as one of national famous scen ic spot by the State Council in D ecember 2 2005, it is located at 25~ 40h illsidew hich hasmore than 500 steps, 5300 hm and 100 000 p ieces. Through syn- thesizing the ecological and social conditions, this paper analyzed the d isaster prevention mechanism existed in Z iquejie Terrace as follow ings: it fully exerted the function of rice field as stealthy reservoir to collect rainy w ater; it realizedw ater resources redistribution by graded flow block-up and decentralizedw ater-store-up mode;l traditional cu ltivation m ethods is good for keep ing up terrace construction; comparing w ith tw o season horizontal rice field, it increased block-up quantity of w ater and utilizable ratio of sunlight energy and tmi e forw ater
