Problem Description The main focus of this workshop is to process the simulation results. First, run the simulation using MSC.Nastran for the existing model in the database Anchor.db. Attach the results file, Anchor.xdb. Next, process the deformation results using Create/Deformation. Display the result with and without the unreformed shape of the model. Finally, process with the vonMises stress. Compare averaging and without averaging between elements. Also, compare using element shape functions and averaging within each element. Also, processing is done with a subset of elements. Suggested Exercise Steps Open database Anchor.db. Check load case Default. Set-up for the analysis. Make MSC.Nastran results accessible to MSC.Patran by attaching XDB results file. View the deformation with undeformed shape. View only the deformed shape. View the von Mises stress results using Create/Fringe. Show a fringe plot for a subset of elements. Zoom in to region of highest stress. Use inter-element averaging for von Mises stress. Use averaging within each element. Quit MSC.Patran. Step 1: Open Database Open existing database Anchor.db File/Open. Select Anchor.db. Click OK. Step 2: Check Load Case Check the load case Click on the Smooth shaded icon. Load Case : Modify Select Default for Select Load Case to Modify. Check to see that the correct Loads/BCs have been assigned. Click Cancel. Step 3: Set-up for the Analysis Set-up for the analysis. Analysis : Analyze / Entire Model / Full Run. Click Translation Parameters… Select XDB and Print for Data Output. Click OK. Click Solution Type. Select Linear Static for Solution Type. Click OK. Click Apply. Step 3: Set-up for the Analysis (Cont.) Set-up for the Analysis Click Subcases… Select Default for Available Subcases. Default should be selected automatically for Available Load Cases. Click Apply Click Cancel. Click Subcase Select to see that Default is selected under Subcases Selected. Click OK. Click Apply to run MSC.Nastran. Step
