China is a country with a severe shortage of water resources, and it is of strategic importance for the long-term solution to the shortage of water resources in China to develop seawater desalination and direct utilization of seawater. From the big classification, it can be divided into two categories, distillation method (thermal method) and membrane method, among which low-temperature multi effect distillation, multi-stage flash evaporation and reverse osmosis membrane are the mainstream. Low temperature multi effect has the advantages of energy saving, low pretreatment of sea water and high quality of desalinated water. Reverse osmosis membrane has the advantages of low investment and low energy consumption, but it requires high seawater pretreatment. Multi stage flash process has many advantages, such as mature, reliable operation and large output, but the energy consumption is high.
