Abstract. The “Excellent Engineer Cultivation Plan emphasizes the reform for the practice teaching. Getting this opportunity, the practical teaching system of the materials specialty was reformed to great extent, focusing on the improvement of students’ engineering practice ability and creative skills. This paper first analyzes the existing problems in the practice teaching. Next, the requisites for excellent materials engineers in the engineering practice ability field were given.
