英语课文翻译 七八单元(The English text translates into seven or eight units) So some scholars believe that they live in a cold northern European region. Some migrated east to form the languages of India and Pakistan, while others drifted west to warmer climates in Europe. Some of the first people to move to the west were later known as the celts, or Caesars army in Britain. The new words came with the Germanic tribes, the anglos and saxons, who crossed the north sea and settled in Britain in the fifth century. They formed what we call the anglo-saxons. The anglo-saxons gave us their farming vocabulary, including sheep, OX, earth, wood, field and work. They must have had a good time because they gave us the word laughter. The next great influence on English is Christianity. Christianity enriched the Anglo-Saxon lexicon with 400 to 500 Greek and Latin words, such as angel (angel), disc (disciple) and martyr (martyr). Every similar addition makes English richer and more diverse. Another great influx of new words occurred in 1066 when the normans conquered England. There were three languages spoken in the UK: the aristocracy used French, the church used Latin, and the commoners used English. Because three languages compete with each other, sometimes the same thing has different names. For example, Anglo-Saxon has a king/y word, but after the Norman invasion, royal and sovereign entered English as an alternative. Unusually, French did not replace English. After more than three centuries English gradually annexed French, to the late 15th century, developed into a kind of improved, greatly enriched the borrowed have more than ten thousand French words l
