T he profile of the caved roof is like a parabolic arch and caving height is 40% ~ 60% of excavation advance span. Through comparative anal sis, it is indicated that the higher the lateral pressure and the larger the ex cavation step, the smaller the caving height. The profile of the caved rock mass under high geo-stress changes graduall from parabolic shape to stratiform shape, w hile that w ith horizontal and vertical joints changes to be saddle- and tower-shaped, respectivel . This work is valuable for productive mining at a low cost, elimination of potential danger and properl induced caving of goaf .
