Preface
This report has been written as part of the BriteEuram project SUPERTRACK
(Sustained performance of railway tracks), contract No G1RD-CT-2002-00777. The
project started in July 2002 and will continue for three years.
This literature survey consists of two parts:
1. A LITERATURE REVIEW (this report), in which a minor part of the literature
found on dynamic train/track interaction, railway ballast, and railway track
settlement has been reviewed.
2. A BIBLIOGRAPHY, containing almost 200 references dealing with different
aspects of railway ballast, track structure, train/track interaction, and track
settlement.
In a recent project, the BriteEuram project EUROBALT II, a literature review was
written and a Bibliography was published. The bibliography contains more than
1000 references dealing with different aspects of railway ballast, track structure and
components, train/track interaction, and track settlement. The EUROBALT
bibliography is available on the home page of Solid Mechanics at Linköping
University, address www.solid.ikp.liu.se under the heading Research: Dynamic
Train/Track Interaction, see also Dahlberg (1998).
In the review presented here mainly papers publisher in recent years will be covered.
For earlier papers, the reader is referred to the review by Dahlberg (1998) and the
EUROBALT Bibliography.
Also the Bibliography appended to this report will be made available on the Internet
on the address given above.
