The trends of decrease of tree stem capac itance and increase of tree stem mi pedance w ere show ed on sligh t and severe drought treatm ents from the th ird day after applied drought stress, wh ile the smi ilar changes w ere observed on the contro l from the n in th day. Under intraspec ific com petit ion, the stem diam eter, he ight, tree stem capacitance and unit capac itance of h igh density treatm en tw ere sign ificantly low er than that of low density treatm ent, w hile the tree stem mi pedancew as sign if icantly higher than that of low density treatm ent. The re search of tree stem capacitance and mi pedance and unit capac itancewould provide a theoretical basis for the quan ti tative assessm ent of the degree of dam age caused by env ironm enta l stresses.
