Reflected ultrasonic signals w ere analyzed. Characteristics such as attenuation coefficient, velocity, fundam ental frequencies of bottom echoes, and intensity of backscattering w aves are studied. Relationship bewt een ultrason ic properties and the average grain diameter of the tested material is obtained. These results are useful in nondestructive detection and in the assessm ent of the degree of material. s thermal fatigue.
