T he results showed the chlamydospores could survive at least 8months in soil, with more thicker wall and contracted protoplasm . How -ever the mycelia could only survive for 2 months. The chlamy- dospores in soil within 3 months could be detected by the method of selective medium directly. After 3 months the baiting method must be applied. Between the effect of temperature and water content under which soil samples maintained the effect of temperature on the surrival of chlamydospores and mycelia, was more striking. Low temperature was beneficial for their survival. T he effect of different water content on their survival was not obvious. Key wordstobacco black shank; P h
