RCS Market Trials Proposal RCS Market Trials Proposal An introduction to the objectives and pre-requisites for RCS market trials © GSMA 2009 All rights reserved RCS Market Trials Proposal Introduction The GSMA’s Rich Communication Suite (RCS) will provide a feature-rich portfolio of inter-operable services to unleash the communities hidden in a user’s phone book. Developed by the collaborative efforts of leading telecommunication companies, the first phase of services launching in 2009 will offer an exciting range of features: Enriched Call, Enhanced Messaging and Enhanced Phonebook. RCS not only offers the opportunity for service providers to sell compelling new services, it also helps them expand and improve their current service offerings enabling them to maintain control of their customers’ personal communications services. However, the market window for RCS is narrow and the GSMA has initiated a “Go To Market” program in order to help encourage the deployment of nationally coordinated market trials of interoperable RCS services throughout 2009/10 to ensure a critical mass of commercial launches in 2010/11. This document is intended to provide the background and outline the high-level objectives and scope for these proposed market trials in order to help service providers evaluate their potential involvement in such trials.
