ZARA’s secret? It moves fast. With an in-house design team based in Spain, and a tightly controlled factory and distribution network, the company says it can take a design from drawing board to store shelf in just two weeks. That lets Zara introduce new items every week, which keeps customers coming back again and again to check out the latest styles. COMPETITER HM Design The company’s design and purchasing teams work together to make sure that each concept is market-oriented. Product HM had 22 production offices, of which 10 were in Europe, 10 in the Far East, and one each in Central America and Africa., all located in regions with inexpensive and skilled laborers. ZARA DesignZara’s design process began with spotting the trends across the world. The details of the trends in vogue were then passed on to the design and production center at Zara’s headquarters in Spain. Product Different from HM, Zara has concentrated its production in Europe.
