The general management planning for national parks of the United States faces management and is feasible in practice. Until now, introductions of the planning system of national parks are rare. The framework of the planning of the national parks is introduced in this paper and it sets the general management planning (GMP) as an example to explain the content regulations and standard processes of the long-term planning. Both data analysis and public involvement are of crucial importance and the alternative selection is the ultimate goal. The planning and its processes constitute a complete decision-making system which is integrated with other laws and policies.
