Climatic st udies demonstrate that t he Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau has also exhibited a w arm ing and drying trend in recent decades. We st udied an area on the Tibet an Plateau located in the transition zone betw een Alpine M eadow and Alpine Steppe regions. Such zones are highly sensitive to environmental change and t he concomitant adjustment of vegetat ion in t hese hinterland areas of the plateau can reflect adaptat ion of plant ecological systems to changes in the climat ic setting . In order to dem
