So far, a region called theM- locus had located on a pair of homomorph ic sex chro- mosom es controls the sexual dmi orph ism in asparagus and the region had been delmi ited to 0. 63cM near the centro- mere regions of L chromosome. A physicalm ap enclosing the sex- determ in ing regionsw ith eight Contigs had been 5 established. How ever, the gaps betw een the contigs could not be closed due to a plethora of repetitive elements. On the other hand, 11 floral organ developm ental expression genes had also been charactered and analyzed. F inally, sev- eral suggestions about the study of asparagus sex w ere given.
