Methods: male Wistar rats were divided into three groups, the first group was the control group; the second group was given complete Freunds adjuvant (FCA) induced by intradermal injection, adjuvant arthritis (AA); the third group was given intragastric administration of bromocriptine in three days before the start of FCA, for 7 d, they were on the incidence rate of observation AA, change the right hind foot capacity, and the secondary disease score. Results compared with the second groups, not only the incidence of AA was significantly decreased (20%: 60%), but also the degree of inflammatory reaction and secondary lesion scores in the third groups were significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion bromocriptine can inhibit the primary and secondary lesions of adjuvant arthritis in rats and provide a new approach for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
