Leaderless group discussion is one of the most widely used personnel quality assessment techniques. In this paper, some telecom companies, for example, the leaderless group discussion technique into the grass-roots management personnel quality assessment, to explore the leaderless group discussion for quality assessment should pay attention to the internal management aspect, in order to make the technology of leaderless group discussion has been applied more widely and effectively.
Leaderless group discussion (Leaderless, Group, Discussion, LGD) is one of the assessment techniques frequently used in the evaluation center technology. The mode of operation is to make a certain number of a group of candidates (usually 5-7) discussed under certain background or on a given problem, discuss general requirements for controversial or contradictory, the examiner is observing the candidates behavior and the related ability and quality evaluation. Because of its low time cost, high surface validity, interpersonal interaction and practical work, it has become one of the most widely used measuring and evaluating techniques in the field of talent evaluation.
In practice, the technical application of leaderless group discussions mainly focuses on the evaluation of the quality of the external recruitment of senior managers and leading cadres, and emphasizes that it should maintain the strangeness between applicants. This understanding leads to the restriction of the scope and condition of the use of LGD, and further restricts the development of its theory. In this paper, we will discuss the application of the group discussion technology in the quality evaluation of the grass-roots managers in our company.
