A study published in the American Journal of environmental health found that pregnant mothers eat more fruits and vegetables, avoiding the harmful effects of exposure to chemicals. The study examines the exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in prenatal infant effects found during pregnancy and eat more fruits and vegetables can effectively avoid PAHs of health hazards of fetal development and growth in the.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are associated with higher rates of depression, obesity, anxiety and hyperactivity in children. PAHs is one of the earliest environmental pollutants and carcinogens found in humans. It is common in air, food and drinking water. PAHs in the atmosphere is mainly derived from incomplete combustion of coal, wood, oil and tobacco, and is one of the major toxic substances carried by particulate matter. Not only carcinogenic, mutagenic effects, drinking genetic toxicity, but also through the placenta and DNA combined to form a conjugate, resulting in fetal DNA damage, affecting fetal growth and development.
In the study, researchers collected more than 600 births in Denmark, the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece and Norway. According to the food of their mothers during the investigation, the detailed results found that during pregnancy to eat lots of fruit and vegetables women can better avoid their babies exposed to potential negative effects on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, such as low birth weight.
