* * * Purpose: To introduce the subject matter of the module When starting to develop an application for the ARM using ARMs development tools, you are likely to start off running some “hello world” type example code either on the ARMulator or on an evaluation/development board. You may well do a considerable part of your development work in this way, but at some point in time you will need to move your application over to your real hardware where it will eventually be required to run without any debug tools connected to it. In this module we are going to look at the steps that are needed in order to make this transition from a development system to your real target hardware. * * * * First of all let’s consider the basic debug requirements. What is normally required is to identify why an application is not executing correcting by stopping application execution when it reaches a particular location in the code or when a particular memory location is accessed. Then once the application is stopped, the processor and system state will need to be examined This is what Multi-ICE in conjunction with the EmbeddedICE logic allows us to do.
