阅读理解词义推测题解题技巧 □黄小宝 阅读理解词义推测题经常使用的提问方式有：1.What do you think the underlined expression……stand for? 2.What does the writer mean by saying……? 3.The underlined word……refers to/probably means/could best be replaced by_______. 4.The underlined word……is most likely to mean_______. 5.……as used in the passage can be defined as_______.等等。 通过教学积累和解题体会，笔者现将阅读理解词义推测题解题方法归纳为六大解题技巧，即上下文语境线索法、定义法、因果关系法、构词法、常识联想法、标点格式暗示法。 一、上下文语境线索法 在阅读短文过程中，遇见不熟悉的词或词组时，能根据上下文的某些相关的单词、短语或句子推测词义。 例1.The underlined word untouched as used in Para.1 can be defined as _______. A.secure B.special C.natural D.artificial 第一段：You know Australia is a big country,but you may not know how easy it is to get around.The untouched beaches that go for miles and desert that touch the horizon are just there,waiting to be reached and explored.…… 由该词所在句子的后面部分waiting to be reached and explored可知，海滩和沙漠还有待人们去涉足和探索，说明这些海滩和沙漠是自然的。所以最佳答案是C项。 例2.The underlined part in the last paragraph most probably refers to something_______. acceptable B.understandable C.reliable D.unreasonable 最后一段：I expected wed find that this (sleep link with obesity)was just a bunch of bunk,says Lumeng,a pediatrician.But their findings were convincing.…… 这一句But their findings were convincing.意思是：“但他们的研究结论却很有说服力”。由此推知，前后两句的意思是:“他们本来希望这种说法是错误的，但是研究结论却让人们不得不相信睡眠和肥胖有关联。”划线部分的含义就是：something unreasonable。所以最佳答案是D项。 二、定义法 在英语短文中，需要定义和解释的单词或短语大多是专有名词、生僻词或文中重要的词。作者一般通过定义、定语从句、同位语从句或词组来阐释它们的词义。所以，为了让读者正确理解它们，作者往往会给出定义或解释性说明。 例3.The underlined word gulf in Para.3 most probably means_______. interest B.distance C.difference D.separation 第二、三段：I would never have said to my mom,‘Hey,the new Weezer album is really great.How do you like it？’ says Ballmer.there are just a complete gap in taste.
