Textbook Design and Evaluation A textbook is often regarded as an immutable(that can not be changed, that will never change) and almost mythical(existing only in myth) object. Our attitude about a textbook may border on reverence. Many of us will defend our chosen text passionately, at least for the first two years after its adoption. We rarely ask how the text comes into being, or what forces were at work during its preparation. What are textbooks /coursebooks? A textbook/coursebook refers to a textbook of which the teacher and usually each student has a copy, and which is in principle to be followed systematically as the basis for a language course.( Ur,1996) English teaching resources include anything which can be used to facilitate the learning of the English language. 2. Resources of teaching materials Instructional materials Printed (Textbooks as the core, library resources, newspapers, magazines, etc) Non-printed materials (audio visual teaching materials, TV, and radio programs, movies, multi media and the web) Teaching facilities (classroom, sound lab, school campus, playground, decorations in school buildings) Human resources (teaching aids, writings, speeches made by teachers, students or guests)
