Thus, in the East Asian countries where the international trade is the main economic resource, the multi language education policy has become one of the focuses of every Asian countrys efforts. Prior to 60s, multilingual learning was not an accepted and encouraged teaching activity. At the time, it was generally agreed that learning two languages would be detrimental to the childs cognitive ability because the two languages were independent in their studies and that knowledge of one language would not be transferred to another.
