Methods using immunoperoxidase staining techniques, detection of mild MsPGN, moderate MsPGN and severe MsPGN, TGF beta isoforms and receptors and extracellular matrix components in renal tissue (type IV collagen, fibronectin, laminin and collagen) expression. Results in mild MsPGN, there was no expression of TGF beta 1, beta 2, beta 3 and its receptor (T beta RI) in the glomeruli. During the moderate and severe MsPGN, the TGF beta subtypes and their receptors were expressed and increased in the glomeruli. At the same time, the contents of extracellular matrix in glomeruli were also significantly increased. Conclusion the subtypes of TGF beta and their receptors are involved in the over accumulation of extracellular matrix in human MsPGN.
