Application of Data Mini ng in Achievement Analysis of Institutions of Higher Learning Abstract In recent years, with the rapid advancement of computer, database and network technology, an enormous number of data in various fields have resulted including large amounts of achievement data from institutions of higher learning. However, for these achievement data, the current teaching management system from institutions of higher learning is mostly the online transaction processing system, which is confined to such simple operations as query and statistics, lacking capabilities of comprehensive analysis and auxiliary decision. Therefore, how to discover the laws from a large number of achievement data to provide education administrators a basis for decision making is a problem needing urgently solving. This research explores the application of data mining in achievement analysis of medical institutions of higher learning, and the major tasks are as follows: (1) This research details association rules and Apriori algorithm. First, through the use of Apriori algorithm, the effects of medical students ’ college entrance examination achievements on basic medicine achievements and clinical medicine achievements and basic medicine achievements on clinical medicine achievements are analyzed at the macro level. And then, in terms of specific course correlation, the effects of the public basic course achievements with some correlation on the basic course achievements of major, the basic course achievements of major on major course achievements,
