Abstract: Contents of water stable aggregate in the casts w ere related to the m icrobial properties. The w ater stable aggregates and them icrobial properties of earthworm casts were both changed w ith ageing tmi e and the nature of organic m atter. H ow ever, few studiesw ere carried out in this area. This study reported som e results from a short term laboratory expermi ent. The ami s were to study the effects of aging, dry ing and different organicmatter on m icrob ial properties and the stability of structure in worm casts. Endogeic earthworm s (M etaphire guillelm i), maize residues and cattle m anure were used in the expermi ent. The four treatments were: ( 1) OM one day casts w ith maize residues; ( 2) AM aging casts w ith m aize residues; ( 3) OC one day casts w ith cattlem anure and ) AC aging castsw ith cattlem anure.
