2017. 9. 4 Sector Autos (NEUTRAL) Update China commercializing fuel cell EVs ● The biggest takeaway from the Samsung Auto Forum on Aug 30 is that Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) is preparing to produce fuel cell EVs (FCEVs), which may turn out to be the group’s ace in the hole. ● IT giants have been penetrating the automobile industry over the past four years, causing valuations of automakers to fall. That said, we believe FCEV demand is certain to grow based on the required energy for autonomous vehicles (Level 4) and tightening environment regulations worldwide. ● Electric bus-makers in China have already commercialized FCEV buses.
