Educational Plan for Master Degree Program Civil Engineering Construction Major （081420）   Brief Introduction to the Subject Civil engineering is the most powerful major with the longest history in Tongji University. It is well known all over the world. Civil engineering construction in Tongji University has been developed more than 50 years. In the middle of the 20th century, when the transformation of advanced schools has been carried out, as the key college in civil engineering construction, experts from the former Soviet Union have been introduced to generate the development of the major. At that time, experiences of the former Soviet Union have been learned. And technology and management of building construction have been studied and practiced. At the end of the last century, civil engineering construction has been a secondary major. Then it has been combined with structural engineering during the subject adjustment. Recently, civil engineering construction has been developed rapidly, and has been merged into the international community at the aspects of international engineering and project management. Numerous senior engineers and talent managers in civil engineering construction are needed. In 2003, due to the need of development for people economy and academic advance, civil engineering construction has been set as a secondary major in civil engineering. The goal of the major is to educate professional structural engineers of high quality, and to combine capability, knowledge, and personality as one. Reorganization of civil engineering construction as a secondary major is advantageous on education of talents in the field.
