M acro and micro observation on the fracture sur- face, inspection of the metallurgical structure and chem ical analysiswere carried outwith a stereo m icroscope, a scanning elec- tronm icroscope( SEM), an opticalm icroscope( OM) and a chem ical analyzer. The results show that the cracks initiated from the wave crest of the innerwall and therewere a greatdealof corrosive products near the cracks. M ost of the crackswere transgranu- lar cracks, and the cracks penetrated through the bellows along the circum ferential direction, ultmi ately causing the leakage. It was concluded that the crackswere caused by typicalstress corrosion. Under the co-effectofhigh temperature, corrosive environ- ment of the seawater, and greater tensile stress, cracks came into being at the innerwallof the bellows.
