The paper develops n realistic scenario for new a.ssurww services, identi- ,fies critical business performance awns ,forxshich new asswxmce services are demanded, dis- cusses the work of the AICPA Special Committee on Assurance Services (Elliott Committee, 1994) and related international group.c, and makes recommendations for actions by accounting educa- tors. These recommendations parallel and enhance those of the American Accounting Associa- tion’s Task Force on Future Audit, Attestation, and A.ssurance Services.
