Real-time financial reports provided by continuous auditing technologies are likely to necessitate continuous auditing, so what continuous auditing technologies can be utilized to facilitate continuous auditing for the next generation of accounting systems has become very important. As one of emerging information technologies, Web services technology could be seen as a good way to facilitate continuous auditing. Relying on a number of components of Web services technology, we propose a Web-service-based model using a registration center for continuous auditing called the Web-service-based continuous auditing model (WSCAM). This continuous auditing mechanism would run in the auditee’s system and could be applied to provide assurance about specific business processes.
