Jane Austen was born in a ministry family, which belonged to the middle class. Although she lived in a small world, she got a deep understanding of the middle class. Her observation, experience and understanding were her sources of writing. The times when Austen lived was the time the great industrial revolution came about. Industrial capitalists were emerging and growing stronger and stronger. They became a new social trend that attacked the old structure of the society. The feudal society was being transformed into a capitalistic one. Then how did the nobles and middle class represented traditional ideas of value, of love and marriage and moral criteria? In the face of these strikes, should they abandon the old ideas or accept the new ideas completely? Or should they have an attitude to know when to say yes or no? Austen also sensed attacks and she put her own puzzles and ideas into her novels, of course, including EMMA. The key character of novel EMMA, Miss Emma was a clever, handsome, warm and arrogant girl.
