Knowledge Based Steel Design for Improved Performance论文.pdf

Knowledge Based Steel Design for Improved Performance ·1 · Knowledge Based Steel Design for Improved Performance Bleck Wolfgang 1 (IEHK Steel Institute, RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany) Abstract Modern steel concepts aim at improved properties by tailoring the microstructure. Three trends are of major interest in nowadays materials development activities: the decrease of the structural length of microstructural constituents towards nanosized quantities, the increase of alloying level and by this the interaction of different elements in enriched zones, extensive use of numerical materials design over various length scales and through long process chains. Key words AHSS (advanced high strength steels), HMnS (high Mn steels), bainitic steels, virtual microstructure, damage tolerance 1 Introduction This paper provides examples for newly developed steels for various applications. These include the control of process kinetics for multiphase microstructures and the microstructure property relationship of advanced high strength sheet steels. The forming capacity during quasistatic, dynamic and cyclic loading of multiphase steels will be discussed taking into account real microstructures. Examples will be given by considering some aspects of the nature of bainite in forging and bearing steels, the kinetics of damage in statically and dynamically loaded 1st generation advanced high strength steels and the short crack growth in cyclically loaded gear steels. Possible fields of application for these materials are lightweight car bodies, damage-tolerant drive train components or offshore windmill gears and towers. 2 New Steel Concepts with High Alloying Contents
