Significant Risk Description Objectives Targets MD Operations - Expansion - New Business strategic outlook identifies need for additional HDD/ Head and Media mfg capacity. The corporation is in the process of building the CHP China mega facility, Yerba Buena HQ Research Facility and completion of Shenzhen Media Project. OHS focus areas include: OHS resources / technical support / skills development required to ensure safe, design, construction and operation. Objective: Ensure that appropriate levels of OHS resources, skills and support provided for design, construction and operation of new HDD facilities. Target: Engage with business unit leadership (via Site Operations Executive) to anticipate and identify mfg expansion plans and provide essential OHS infrastructure support. Develop and implement individual improvement plans as direction unfolds. Local Exhaust Ventilation Local exhaust ventilation is a critical control mechanism to prevent air contaminant generation and distribution in the work environment. Inadequately designed, operated or maintained local exhaust systems can permit employee exposures to harmful air contaminants. Results of the 2005 Peer Review indicated the following types of exposures Inadequate implementation of periodic system performance measurements Damaged / defective ductwork Inadequate exhaust duct terminations Inadequately installed / operated exhaust monitoring and alarm devices Objective: Ensure that the design, construction operations and maintenance of local exhaust systems prevents employee exposures to harmful air contaminants in the workplace. Target: Develop common set of guidelines relative to local exhaust ventilation system design, construction, operations and maintenance to be applied within company.
