Methods: A total of 28 cases of primary hepatocellular carcinoma with hypersplenism were performed by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy in our hospit- al, with the dividing dose of 2 Gy/time, 5 times/week, and the total dose were 10 - 25 Gy. After four weeks of treatment, white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, and the main body of the portal vein, the splenic vein and the spleen index were monitored. Results: 28 patients had mild decrease in white blood cells and platelets in the first week of treatment, then the white blood cells and platelets begin to recover. The difference of white blood cells and platelet count was statistically significant before and after radiotherapy (p 0.05). Both white blood cells and platelets were re-
