On Confucian AnalectsIt’s acknowledgedthat Confucian Analects has been playing an essential role both at home and abroad. Throughout the history, Chinese civilization has enriched itself by absorbing new elements from the outside world and in turn has contributed to the progress of the world civilization as a whole by transmitting to other nations its own cultural achievements. As a Chinese, we need to learn more about our excellent cultures and share our stories to people around the world.I’m really impressed by the wisdom of Confucius. In the book Confucian Analects, it records the words and behaviors of Confucius and his disciples, mainly talking about how to behave properly. Confucius’ philosophy reflected on this book is a complete ideological system which takes benevolence as core and rites the expression. It consists of five main principles: benevolence, rites, doctrine of mean, educational thought, filial piety.Benevolence, called“ren” in Chinese, is Confucius central doctrine. It contains various connotations. The first and the general connotation of benevolence is “to love the people”. “To love the people” embodies the spirit of humanitarianism that reflects human nature. According to Confucius, “to love the people” means to love all people, no matter what kind of social status they maintain. This proposal requires that the ruling class should investigate mass condition and oppose harsh government. Confucius thinks that faithfulness and forgiveness are the ideal way to realize “benevolence”. Also he holds that “benevolence” is a kind of quality that everyone is supposed to acquire and a principle that should be followed to rule the country. He advocates governing the state on the base of the concern and love for the people. The “rites” is an important content of Confucius’ thoughts. He believes especially in the Zhou Etiquette. “Benevolence” is the fundamental spirit of the “rites”. Confucius’ proposition is standardizing human by “Li” and “Yi”. On the one
