425 436200512 Journal of Chinese Corrosion Engineering, Vol.19 No.4, PP. 425~436 (2005) Establishment of Database of Corrosion and Failure Analysis Cases Kuo-Ming Chen*, Horng-Yih Liou (KM) ABSTRACT China Steel corporation exerts great efforts to drive the knowledge management for fastening technologies, for this purpose, the aim of this project is to establish a database system of studied cases which are focused on the corrosion analysis of steel and aluminum and the failure analysis of equipments. Through local area network, the data of the database system can be inquired, added and modified. Except for being a tool of preserving and passing down knowledge, the database system can also shorten the learning curve of new staffs. The way to build up this database system includes mainly the following steps: analysis of the data structure, design of the database tables, installation and setting of software, design of user interface, design of searching mode of database, programs compiling, debugging and correcting, and finally is data handle and input. The worth of this initially establishing database system can be raised by continuously adding new studied cases, and will be more functional and practical if integrated with the developing expert system of failure analysis of equipments in the future.
