Due to the acidic nature of the gases they do emit, it leads to acidic rain that is often very destructive in its nature. The Amendments of the 1990 Clean Air Act led to the first step in alarge-scale control of the environmental pollution. This majorly relied on the permits for all the emissions that could be traded. This paramount step in environmental conservation targeted the emissions of sulfur dioxide, SO2. The goal was to reduce the emissions from the plants that produced electricity by half the level that was encountered in 1980 as from 1995. As a result, this could lead to a huge reduction in the acidic rain that is due to too much sulfur dioxide in the air. This initialization is of huge importance as it addresses a vital global policy regarding the environmental conservation. Emission trading has been of great concern as great efforts are underway to find a solution to the global change in climate. The U.S has always been on for front in dealing with the climate change through controlling the Carbon dioxide, CO2emissions.
