T he variables fo und to be predicto rs o f nosoco mial in- f ectio n based o n univar iate analysis w ere subject to multivariable log istic reg ression analysis in o rder to identify a subset of var i- ables fo r predicting hospital inf ection . A p- value 0 . 05 w as considered stat istically sig nif icant . Results O f the 1950 cases, 62 had hospital inf ectio n . T he mor bidity r ate w as 3. 2% . T he independent r isk f actor s included mechanical ventilation , car cino ma and cor ticostero id u se. Conclusions W e mu st implement comprehensive pr ev ent ive measures to deal w ith the r isk f actor s o f nos- o co mial inf ect ions in intensiv e car e unit .
