The R8 is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and will have a tag price of $109,000. It is scheduled to hit dealerships in United States this fall. The rest of the models that will be launched this coming fall are equipped with the six-speed R tronic automatic gearbox which will be offered at a price of $118,000. The R8 is the first mid-engine sports car that the luxury unit of Volkswagen has ever produced. With a 420 hp V8 4.2L FSI engine and rear-biased Quattro? all-wheel-drive system, the R8 possess the performance that goes beyond any of the previous Audi ever developed. Reaching 0 to 60 mph in just a matter of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph, the R8 is the fastest Audi ever built. The lightweight aluminum frame and body of the R8 with 44:56 front-to-rear weight distributions give the R8 with superior handling capabilities and a balance that is expected of a mid-engine sports car.
