Without his love and support I cant finish this thesis. 摘要 自古以来，“信”就是翻译的根本问题。随着科学技术的迅猛发展和各国间经济文化交流的日益增多，翻译工作以前所未有的速度开展起来。翻译作品大量涌现，就难免鱼龙混杂。实践离不开理论作指导，鉴于此，本文从严复的“信、达、雅”翻译标准出发，试图确立“信”的翻译标准。 我国翻译史上严复提出的“信、达、雅”翻译标准对我国的翻译理论研究做出了巨大的贡献，至今仍有着广泛的影响。然而该标准有其历史局限性。抛开原文讲“达”和“雅”是与“信”背道而驰的。本文建议翻译工作人员首先应当考虑的是“信”。这个“信”是有丰富涵义的——译文不仅要在内容而且要在形式上忠实于原文。但是由于不同语言和文化间存在巨大差异，在翻译中要实现完全的“信”是十分困难的。本文提出将传统的“直译”与“活译”结合在一起从而设法最大程度地实现“信”。 一般来说,一个好的译文在意义和功能上都应体现“信”即“忠实”效果; 同 时,“直译”和“活译”也是为了使译文忠实于原作的具体表现形式。因此,在翻译过程中,尽可能避免假忠实性现象的出现, 使译文具有可读性。 关键词：信；传统的；直译；活译 Abstract Since the ancient times, “faithfulness” has become the fundamental concern of translation. With the rapid development of science and technology and the sharp increase in world communication, translation practices have a considerable growth. Due to the lack of a universally acknowledged principle to guide the translators, the market is flooded with badly translated works.
