The construction of the urban three-dimensional landscape is a product of modern urban development, more and more widely used in urban planning, construction and management. Efficient and fast to build a three-dimensional landscape is a key technology to create a virtual city. Today, ArcGIS 10 provides a true three-dimensional GIS platform to achieve a leap of three-dimensional modeling and analysis capabilities,its new features integrated the advantages of traditional urban planning software, compared to previous versions of ArcGIS software,the three-dimensional display of ArcGIS 10 in the virtual city modeling with its easy-to-use 3D visualization operation, smooth outstanding browsing effect and powerful three-dimensional space analysis become more powerful. Research in this subject of urban planning based on the ArcGIS 10 can use the spatial analysis function of GIS to specify the analysis of the layout of urban land use, land suitability analysis, demographic analysis and so on. For planning end region, prepare 2D data and 3D data into ArcGIS 10 for three-dimensional modeling, finally showing the model the three-dimensional effect of a city.
