Circulation of blood The passage of the blood through the heart and blood vessels consists of the circulation of blood. The course of the blood from the left ventricle through the body generally to the right side of the heart constitutes the greater or systemic circulation. Both subdivisions have a fluid, blood or lymph, which circulates through blood or lymphatic vessels and lymph organs. Cardiovascular system consists of the heart, the arteries, the blood capillaries and the veins. By heart contraction the blood is pumped to all parts of the body through a series of arteries. The arteries undergo enormous ramification in their course, and end in a close-meshed capillaries. Then the blood is collected into a series of veins, by which it is returned to the heart.
