National Marine Sanctuaries is introduced, including the monitoring purpose, monitoring principal characteristics, and monitoring contents. T he environmental monitoring is an important w ay to track the status and trends of the natural resources in the marine protect area, and an important w ork for the management. T he U. S. National Ma rine Sanctuary is similar to the Marine Nature Reserve of China in the protect purpose and resource type. T he U . S. National Ma rine Sanctuary has advanced level in the monitoring in the w orld. So, the study and use of it could improve the monitoring w ork in our country in the field.
